How Much Do Spider Vein Treatments Cost?

Visible veins anywhere on your face or body can make you want to hide your skin. Fortunately, you have several options for spider vein treatment. Dr. Dohner at New York Skin & Vein Centers is a vein specialist who uses the most advanced and effective methods to make your spider veins disappear.

What Causes Spider Veins?

Spider veins are usually small, discolored veins that twist and spread out in webs or branching patterns under the skin. Causes can include genetics, health conditions, pregnancy, hormones, and prolonged sitting or standing. Many people with spider veins have inherited a tendency to develop them, but other factors play a role. The veins become enlarged and visible when the vein walls stretch due to increased pressure.

How are Spider Veins Treated?

Dr. Dohner uses several methods to treat spider veins. In general, spider vein treatment uses minimally invasive methods that collapse the targeted veins. Collapsing the veins stops blood from flowing through them. The blood will flow through other nearby vessels, and your body will gradually absorb the remnants of the vein, fading it until it disappears. Depending on the size and location of the spider veins, Dr. Dohner may use injectable or laser treatments.

How Much Do Spider Vein Treatments Cost?

The cost of spider vein treatments varies widely depending on several factors, including:

  • Your location
  • Your provider’s specialization and experience
  • The type of treatment used
  • The number of spider veins treated
  • How many treatments you need

Some people may only need one treatment to eliminate spider veins. If you have a large number of them or they appear in clusters, you may need several sessions for complete results. An average spider vein treatment costs between $500 and $600. This cost does not include blood tests, medications, or other fees and expenses. We recommend a consultation with Dr. Dohner to determine how much you can reasonably expect your treatment to cost.

What is the Best Spider Vein Treatment?

Dr. Dohner will determine the best treatment for you based on the size and location of your spider veins. All three options are quick, cause little to no discomfort, and have almost no downtime. These minimally invasive treatment options make eliminating your spider veins easy and convenient.

Sclerotherapy

This treatment uses a foam solution injected into the problem veins. This foam irritates the walls of the vein and causes them to collapse. Your body absorbs the treated veins over the course of a few weeks. It is often used for blue veins on the face, chest, and legs.

1064 Nd:Yag Laser Treatments

This laser uses a wavelength of light that treats the blood inside your blue or purple spider veins without harming the surrounding tissues. By heating the blood, the laser causes the vein walls to collapse. This technique works well for spider veins almost anywhere on the face or body but is especially good for larger veins or venous lakes on the face.

532 KTP Laser Treatments

This laser uses a wavelength of light that treats the blood inside your red spider veins without harming the surrounding tissues. By heating the blood, the laser causes the vein walls to collapse. This technique works well for spider veins almost anywhere on the face or body but is especially good for small red veins on the face, neck, chest or body.

VeinGogh™

This treatment targets tiny spider veins too small for sclerotherapy. It uses a tiny probe to transmit pulses of electrical energy that collapse problem veins. It is often used for spider veins in areas like the nose and around the ankles.
