How Many Laser Tattoo Removal Sessions Will You Need?

These days, you no longer have to be stuck with a bad tattoo. In the past laser tattoo removal was a long and tedious process that required 10-20 sessions to clear up a tat. Now, tattoo removal is almost as easy as getting a tattoo in the first place.

At New York Skin & Vein Center we use the best of the best in technology, equipment, and staff. Patients can fade or erase unwanted tattoos in as little as 2-sessions. Before we get into the number of sessions you’ll need, let’s take a look at how laser tattoo removal works.

How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?

The Enlighten™ Laser at NYSVC breaks down the tattoo dye and pigments in the skin. Our superior laser technology allows us to precisely target the colors and heat them up in a trillionth of a second. When the dye particles are heated up, they are also broken down allowing your body to naturally reabsorb them. The extreme speed of delivering laser energy allows us to treat the larger and smaller particles better than any other laser. Older darker tattoos typically respond best to laser tattoo removal.

Men and women with tattoos that are newer, lighter or brighter in color may require more treatment sessions. That being said, our laser helps fade tattoos better and faster than the competition. We customize the Enlighten™ Laser treatment sessions for all skin types and colors, making the treatments quick, comfortable, and safe.

How Far Apart Are the Treatments Spaced?

Laser tattoo removal sessions are generally spaced anywhere from 4-8 weeks apart. This allows for the treatment area to fully heal and allows your body to naturally reabsorb the pigment. This is not a process that should be rushed because doing so may lead to scarring or pigmentation problems.

How Long Will It Take for My Tattoo to Disappear?

That depends on a variety of factors. If you’re simply looking to fade your older dark tattoo in preparation for a cover-up, you might be able to get the results you want in as little as two months. If you have a newer lighter tattoo that’s recently been done with dense ink, you should expect the removal process to take longer.

The best way to determine how many sessions you’ll need and how long it will take to erase your unwanted mistake is to schedule a consultation with us. We’ll be able to assess your concerns and customize a treatment plan for your individual circumstances.
