How Long Does Dysport® Last?

Have you started to notice that your smile lines and crow’s feet have become more noticeable? Expression lines and wrinkles deepen over time, but Dysport® can smooth them away. This wrinkle-relaxing treatment can give you a more relaxed, youthful appearance with a few quick injections.

What is Dysport®?

Dysport® is an FDA-approved injectable treatment for expression lines and wrinkles. It uses botulinum toxin, a compound that stops signaling between nerves and muscles. Other wrinkle relaxers such as Botox® and Xeomin® use the same kind of compound. All have minor variations that affect how they are used. Your injection specialist will decide which product will work best for you based on several factors.

How Does Dysport® Work?

Your New York Skin & Vein injection specialist will use Dysport® to relax your lines and wrinkles. Expression lines such as vertical brow creases, horizontal forehead lines and crow’s feet form where the muscles pull and crease the skin. Dysport® interrupts the signals from the nerves that control these muscles. When the muscles stop contracting, lines and wrinkles will soften and fade. Despite the name of the active ingredient, Dysport® is not toxic to nerves or muscles and has no permanent effects.

How Long Does Dysport® Last?

Dysport® has a lifespan similar to that of related products like Botox®. Most people will see their results last three to four months. Some people who have Dysport® frequently may find that it lasts a bit longer. You can schedule regular appointments to keep your Dysport® results looking smooth and youthful.

How is Dysport® Different From Botox®?

Dysport® and Botox® have many similarities. They use minor variations on the same primary ingredient, botulinum toxin. Most of the differences in their functioning come from the accessory proteins. Dysport® starts to work faster and you’ll see the benefits in as little as two or three days. It also tends to spread out in the injection area. This trait makes it effective for larger areas and gives smooth, natural-looking results.
