Are Facial Wrinkles Making You Look Older?
Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau® – Get the Skin You’ve Always Wanted
Have you been seeking a pick me up? A non-surgical way to combat looking exhausted or tired? Wrinkle relaxers at New York Skin & Vein Centers work at treating the wrinkles you already have and prevents new wrinkles from forming. All of these cosmetic injections are purified botulinum toxin which blocks the muscle from contracting. This prevents the movement that makes you look tired and older.
These treatments are great for maintaining your youthful appearance. The differences between these four relaxers are minimal. While they all last 3 to 4 months on average, there are subtle differences between them.
How Do Botox® & Wrinkle Relaxers Work?
As you get older, the skin begins to lose its elasticity, leading to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. These lines, around your eyes and mouth, tend to make you look tired or older than you are. Botox® and other wrinkle relaxers smooth facial expression and minimize muscle movement by putting the muscles which create lines to sleep. This gives you a more youthful and well-rested appearance. With regular treatments, wrinkle relaxers offer continued improvement for a subtle and refreshed appearance around your eyes and forehead.
Am I a Good Candidate for Botox® & Wrinkle Relaxers?
Wrinkle relaxers are great options for men and women over 21 who would like to reduce the visibility of lines and wrinkles in the upper face.
The most common areas NYSVC uses wrinkle relaxers for include:
- Forehead or Frown Lines (the “11’s”)
- Crows feet and Smile LInes (around the eyes)
- Eyebrows (to lift the brow)
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding and people who have certain neuromuscular conditions should avoid muscle relaxing injections.

How Long Does A Typical Treatment Take?
After discussing your treatment goals and performing a facial analysis with Dr. Dohner or one of our experienced injection nurses, most treatments take only a few minutes. You should be able to get back to work and other day-to-day activities immediately thereafter. Wrinkle relaxers like Botox are usually combined with Wrinkle Fillers on the same day to give you a fast and easy pick me up and maintain your natural good looks.
What Results Will I See?
The single most important factor is getting the best result is the experience of the person injecting you. Dr. Dohner has over 19 years of injection experience in all areas of the face with all of the fillers. This gives you the greatest degree of confidence in getting the result you want.
On average, you will begin to notice smoothing of the lines within 2 to 3 days. It’s suggested to wait 14 days to see the full results. At New York Skin and Vein we want you to look refreshed and natural and NOT frozen and statue like. These effects do not happen when you receive treatments from us. The average lasting effect is 3 to 4 months. Over time, if you get treatments regularly, the fine lines and wrinkles will continue to be smoothed out in between treatments.
*Individual Results May Vary
Is There Any Downtime?
In most cases, you can immediately return to your daily activities. It is recommended that you avoid the following for at least 4-hours following treatment for optimal results:
- Rubbing the injected area
- Taking NSAIDs, aspirin and other blood-thinning medications
Some people develop bumps, redness or swelling around the injection site, which last no more than 30-minutes.
