Is There Any Downtime After CoolSculpting®?

What is CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is a non-surgical treatment for fat removal and body contouring. It works using a process called cryolipolysis or damaging fat cells by freezing. Applicators applied to the skin lower the temperature of the treatment area until it crystallizes and breaks apart fat cells. This temperature does not affect your skin or other tissues.

What is CoolSculpting® Treatment Like?

Your CoolSculpting® treatment will begin with a gel applied to your skin, followed by the applicators. At New York Skin & Vein Centers, we use CoolSculpting® Elite, the most advanced CoolSculpting® technology, which has twice as many applicators as legacy systems to treat more areas. Your skin may feel cold and tingly when treatment begins, but the area quickly becomes numb.

Is There Any Downtime After CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® Elite is non-invasive, leaving the skin undamaged. As a result, it has no downtime, and you can return to your usual activities immediately. With treatment usually lasting between 30 and 1200 minutes, you can fit a session into almost any schedule and return to work without delay.

Some people find their skin looks red and feels swollen or sensitive for a few hours to days after treatment. Others may notice temporary tingling or numbness. These effects fade within a few days to weeks. Your team at NYSV will assist you with any concerns you have after treatment.

What Results Will I See With CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® Elite results will appear over several weeks as your body’s lymphatic system removes treated fat cells. Full results become visible after about three months. CoolSculpting® Elite removes up to 25% of fat from targeted areas. Many people will achieve their desired results with one treatment, while others may need two.

CoolSculpting® Elite results can last a lifetime. Fat cells do not grow back, so your body will not replace the treated ones. However, you still have fat cells in the area, and they can still expand if you gain weight. Individuals who lead a consistently healthy lifestyle will see long-lasting results.

Am I a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting®?

Non-invasive CoolSculpting® Elite is safe and effective for almost anyone. Good candidates are close to their weight goals and lead a healthy lifestyle. However, those with a higher BMI can still benefit from treatment in many cases. You should not have treatment if you have a skin infection, irritation, or injury in the treatment area.
